This was my first volume past Lynsay Sands and it was really good. My sister loves her books and had urged me to read one of them for ages, only I only caved in yesterday. At present I'thou wondering why I didn't pay attention to her sooner.

This was my offset book by Lynsay Sands and it was really skilful. My sister loves her books and had urged me to read i of them for ages, but I only caved in yesterday. At present I'g wondering why I didn't pay attending to her sooner.

Lady Clarissa Crambray is extremely nearsighted and "bullheaded as a bat" without her spectacles, but her stepmother Lydia has forbidden her to clothing them - in fact, she has broken them and thrown them away to prevent Clarissa from disobeying her. Lydia is trying to get Clarissa married off this Season and believes no gentleman volition expect at Clarissa twice if she's wearing those ugly glasses, just this lightheaded "scheme" isn't actually working. Without being able to see anything but blurry colors and shapes, Clarissa has one graceless accident after some other and is soon nicknamed "Clumsy Clarissa" past the ton. Clarissa is a pretty and wealthy lady, but her "clumsiness" has sent most of her suitors away. Even so, Lydia yet refuses to allow Clarissa to wear glasses, arguing that "being clumsy is improve than being ugly". Okay, if she says so...

Adrian Montfort, the Earl of Mowbray, is dorsum to London later a ten-twelvemonth cocky-imposed exile in the state, where he'due south been "hiding" from the ton since he came back wounded and scarred from the Peninsular War. He's very self-conscious about the scar he has on his face and doesn't believe any woman will take him every bit hubby considering of information technology - silly, empty-headed homo! -, only he knows information technology's time he did his duty and institute a married woman, so here he is in London, indelible the Season and the marriage market. He meets Clarissa in one of the ton'due south balls and, lucky for him, she can't see his face, his scar, or anything else for that matter...

Even though Clarissa's "blindness" is very attractive to Adrian, he speedily grows to similar her for who she is and enjoys spending time with her. She also appreciates his visitor and the way she doesn't feel clumsy around him. Just every bit they start falling in love with each other, doubt arises. She tin can't remain glasses-less forever, can she? Adrian is sure she'due south going to run abroad screaming when she finally sees his "horrible" scar, while Clarissa is afraid he's going to be disgusted past the sight of her in her "ugly" spectacles. So each tries to buy fourth dimension in his/her own way - Adrian delaying the buy of new spectacles for her and Clarissa hiding the fact that she's already purchased them - while working to brand the other fall in beloved. Later all, love is blind.

In the meantime, it looks like there's someone out in that location trying to harm Clarissa. When she's well-nigh killed in a suspicious "accident", Adrian hires an "investigator" to observe out who'southward after her. Considering Lydia's dislike of her stepdaughter, she's Adrian'southward prime (and favorite) suspect, but is she that evil? And is the killer really after Clarissa, or is he/she indirectly subsequently Adrian?

This was a charming and funny story that kept me captivated correct from the start. When Clarissa set one of her suitor's wig on fire in the opening scene, I couldn't help laughing out loud - which immediately prompted my sister to say, "Ha! What have I been telling you all these years?" Anyhow, my sister's teasing aside, I knew so that this was going to be a humorous read and I got myself ready to enjoy it. There were several funny moments in this book, only my favorite were the ones regarding Clarissa's wedding nighttime, her "pie" and Adrian's "truncheon". "Her listen was filled with the epitome of the truncheon corking into the pie, and the red juice spilling out." LOL, what a fashion to explain what happens on the wedding night to an innocent woman!

Adrian and Clarissa were very likable characters, and I actually rooted for their HEA. Their interactions were sometimes sugariness and sometimes hilarious, and they had great chemistry together. Aidan was caring, sensitive, and I loved the small things he did for her (like reading to her and arranging a individual picnic for her) to compensate for the restraints imposed by her temporary "blindness", just he could take given up on the idea of delaying the buy of new spectacles for her a bit sooner that he did. That was selfish of him, and he lost some points with me for that. As for Clarissa, she was ambrosial only likewise naive and soft-hearted. Normally, that wouldn't be necessarily a flaw, but it ended upwards being one due to a particular event that I can't reveal here. Suffice it to say that I wasn't happy with the fashion she dealt with the situation.

As for the secondary plot, the mystery regarding the attempts on Clarissa's life, it was interesting but the culprit and his/her motive were easy to gauge. As I wasn't reading this book to become my "romantic suspense fix", I wasn't bothered by that. The romance was well written and Adrian and Clarissa fabricated me grin and sigh, and so I was more than than happy with this book. I will definitely read more than books by Ms. Sands!

This was atrocious. Bad writing, anachronistic linguistic communication e.thou., "are yous okay?" Elementary plot. Simpler characters. All the tension was around a soldier's facial scar and a woman's spectacles. I don't call back I've ever given a 1 star before. I'm a loftier grader!

I have naught else to say! Read my reading notes. Waste $7.99 and hours of my time! Will never read some other Lynsay Sands book!!

Recommends information technology for: fans of humorous romance and less than perfect characters
I thought this was a cute volume, and I enjoyed reading it. Information technology's nice to read a romance where y'all actually like both the hero and the heroine. I could empathise with their self-consciousness about their perceived flaws. Poor Clarissa thought she'd be rejected past her husband because she looked ugly in her glasses. Poor Adrian thought his wife would exist disgusted when she saw his scar. Information technology takes some skill to handle this kind of storyline where the couple is keeping secrets from each other, and I I thought this was a cute book, and I enjoyed reading it. The mystery was good, just it didn't overtake the story, and it didn't compromise the sweet, cheerful tone of this story. She kept me guessing about who was the culprit backside Clarissa'south 'accidents,' and I liked the resolution. Although I am into noir romance, I do like to read a sweet romance where at that place are lots of laughs, and the characters are people I would like in real life. Love is Blind is 1 of those stories. I really liked the stop where Clarissa and Adrian confront their insecurities and confirm their dear for each other, 'flaws' and all. Information technology was an 'aww' moment for me. I'thou glad I pulled this out of my tbr pile for my Slightly More Challenging Challenge. It wasn't too fluffy or silly for me to enjoy, and I do have a low threshold for that kind of story, if I'm non in the mood for it. If you read Love is Bullheaded, become into it with an open heed, and a willingness to enjoy a lighter, sweetness read with good characters. I did. But then, I'g a sucker for scarred heroes, sweet heroines, books that make me laugh, and likeable characters. It besides helped that I am near-sighted myself. Hither's to the iv-eyed folks out there!

This is my second book from this writer and I run into that she likes to write with a lot of sense of humor. This book was very very very sweet. Boarding on fairytale like with a mixture of Beauty and the Beast plus the stepmother from Cinderella. The heroine was so sweet that I almost had a toothache.

I liked this book quite a lot. But then, I love retellings...
This book was about showing that you can dear someone despite their physical advent.

This story came into my life at just the right time...

I've had a very stressful calendar week at work and I absolutely adored that Dear is Blind distracted me from it. Lynsay Sands created a storyline that entertained me and characters that made me express mirth. Love is Blind was ready in a time where the beautiful gained advantageous marriages and reputations fabricated the departure betwixt marrying up or down. Honey was not a priority and more times than not, a honey match seemed to happen past accident, not by design.

This story came into my life at just the right time...

I've had a very stressful week at work and I absolutely adored that Dear is Blind distracted me from it. Lynsay Sands created a storyline that entertained me and characters that made me express mirth. Love is Blind was set in a time where the cute gained advantageous marriages and reputations made the departure between marrying upwardly or downwards. Love was not a priority and more times than not, a beloved match seemed to happen by accident, not by design.

I loved the match-making and scheming from the mothers, the arrogant swagger from the eligible bachelors and the simpering appearance of sweet from the young ladies. I love the glimpse into the ballrooms and the try needed to dress and prepare for the ball. Who will be the wallflower? Who will be caught in a secret rendezvous in the gardens? Who will make the match of the flavor...and who will not? Each ball is an adventure and I love stepping back in fourth dimension to come across it all play out.

Clarissa is practically blind without her spectacles and when she is without them, no i is safety from her stumblings and bumblings. Fifty-fifty while I felt sympathy for Clarissa, I couldn't help but laugh at some of the situations she plant herself in. She is very aware that most of society is scared to be in her presence because of a few unfortunate accidents. With her stride-female parent determined to see Clarissa married, lives are at chance with every brawl and engagement Clarissa attends. If but there was a strong, mettlesome and determined gentleman who is willing to accept that a few of his toes might get squashed on their journeying to marriage.

Adrian has finally resigned himself to facing the wedlock mart. His mother is determined to come across him married and begetting heirs. If only the debutantes didn't await at him with fright after seeing the scars from state of war. When Adrian is warned away from the stumbling and bumbling, practically bullheaded Clarissa, he sees an opportunity he can't resist. Brand the cute, stumbling and bumbling Clarissa fall in love with him before she truly sees his ugly scars.

I really enjoyed this stride back in time and I think it was more so because I needed a low-cal-hearted, elementary and entertaining distraction. The narrator does a decent chore except when it came to the intimate scenes. Oh My Lordy!! If I had to listen to one more *Ooh...Oooh...Ooooh* or *My Lord, you shouldn't...Oooooooooh* I was going to die of laughter. Take out the intimate scenes and this narrator plays the office of the sugariness and innocent debutante perfectly.

This was my favourite type of historical romance and an absolute delight from outset to finish. I enjoyed the audio version of Love is Blind and I volition definitely exist listening to more of Lynsay Sands' historical romances in the future.

Clarissa needed to wear glasses to see. Her begetter was around but Clarissa was too weak to limited herself to him. They put her into the marriage mart but they allowed her to appear clumsy because of her stepmother'south vanity. To this end, the lady forbid our heroine her much-needed spectacles. And so, naturally, Clarissa made a fool of herself. Numerous times.

Along comes Adrian. His face was scarred in the war. Here you accept ii peas in a pod. Likeable, you wanted happiness for both of them but someone wanted Clarissa dead. Instead of fleshing out that idea the story started to lose me with the continual sexual activity. She was a virgin and and then no more. Don't go me wrong, I beloved some steaminess just I want a plot, likewise.

Dear IS BLIND wasn't a bad story, just not very interesting. There was very little substance to keep me entertained. If you lot desire to read most a heroine from the Regency era that has not bad chemistry with the hero try SCANDALOUS Journey by Roberta Eckert, Buss ME, I'Thousand Irish gaelic by Bella Street or THE HIRED HERO by Andrea Pickens.

3. At that place is a bizarre back story that provides us with the attempted murderess, who is obvious to anyone after virtually page 22, although nobody could've guessed the reason considering it's so convoluted and stupid.

It seems I had read this almost a decade ago, when I was starting time getting into romance books. Information technology besides seems that I had loved information technology at that time. This is most definitely no longer the case.

This was bad. Lazy writing, weirdly shifting tone and dialogue, repetitive, overly dramatic, thinly plotted, and schlocky. Not my cuppa at all.

I am very pleasantly surprised and I'm actually glad I took a hazard on this.

The plot itself wasnt very unlike and something I take probably read 10 times over, only what actually caught my attention was the non bodice-ripperish title. Its elementary, contemporary and very (ironically and hilariously) related to the volume.

What's probably the best part about this book is how the male MC is more insecure near his looks than the female person MC, as he has a long, simply lite scar on his confront. Clarissa, the female MC, is insecure as she thinks she looks ogre-like in her glasses, but still wants it then that she wont be blinder than a bat (actually, all her mishaps and antics because of her blindness were hilarious and actually fabricated me double over a lot. Major bonus points).

And that's really not all, since the volume has many hilarious moments, which makes it pretty damn awesome.

Then the male person MC freaking respects Clarissa, dammit. he doesnt talk down to her, and well-nigh importantly, doesnt hide his dearest for her thinking that 'he will make himself vulnerable if he does' or something like that. He doesnt act similar an ass towards her because of his stupid scar and accepts for who she is.

The simply problems I had was how goody-goody and kind Clarissa was. I know I know, existence kind is not exactly a fault. Merely in that location is kind, and at that place is kind. Clarissa is kind. Say, someone comes to murder her and she finds out. Instead of handing them over to the cops, like any normal person would do, Clarissa would pat them on the head, give them a few shillings and ship them off to America for a new outset. (view spoiler)[*cough* Lets ignore that this actually happened *cough* (hide spoiler)]

...

Huh?

Another trouble was how incredibly predictable the 'mystery' was. I am terrible as mysteries, and put a riddle before me and you'll get the answer only never. But if I could figure it out within the beginning ten pages, y'all know that the 'mystery' is very pointless.

Nevertheless, a very very beautiful story and ane of my almost highly recommended Hour. There are no pestering mothers/cousins/sisters/brothers or some dark broody secret (well, sorta. But this is such common knowledge that the MC tells it earlier on) or some unsolvable problem. Its cute and very mannerly in its simplicity, which is exactly what I like.

My principal reason for picking up this book was that I needed to read something by a "new-to-me writer" for this month's Multi-Blog TBR claiming. I've had this one on the pile of paperbacks past the bed for a while, and, beingness visually challenged myself, liked the thought behind the story.

Reading Love is Bullheaded was like indulging in a guilty pleasance. I'm usually a chip of a stickler when it comes to historical romance, equally I practise similar in that location to exist a reasonable amount of – if not actual history, and then at to the lowest degree historical accuracy in the books I read. Merely occasionally, I find myself being able to relax my usual requirements a fleck, get with the flow and read something for the hell of information technology. That said, even with a "wallpaper historical" like this 1, in that location still have to be a number of redeeming features in club for me to savor it, and fortunately that was the case here.

Although there's naught in the book to advise when it is ready, references to certain styles of habiliment and events place it firmly in the early function of the 19th century. But there's a very modern feel to much of the dialogue; and the apply of a number of anachronistic expressions, not least of which is "okay", do stick out like the proverbial sore thumbs. But the thing is, I constitute the two principal characters to be rather charming, I liked the story – fifty-fifty though parts of it were a chip daft – and the underlying theme of 2 people whose insecurities take held them back from living their lives and finding love. The book is pure mental candyfloss, but in a practiced way – low-cal, fluffy and fun, merely fortunately non sugariness enough to rot one'due south teeth!

I am also blind as a bat without my spectacles and have been for xxx years or more than. While I may not exist quite as bad as Clarissa, (the heroine of this book) when it comes to falling over and bumping into things, and I can manage to find my way around the business firm without needing an escort, I still sympathised with her enormously when she was without her spectacles and unable to meet anything clearly.

Lady Clarissa Cambray is currently "doing the Season" in London under the chaperonage of her step-mother, Lydia, who is, not to put too fine a indicate on information technology, a total bowwow. She has forbidden Clarissa – who is very short-sighted – to vesture her spectacles in public because (she says) they brand her await ugly and she will never attract a man while she wears them. Clarissa actually believes this – and while she is miserable because she tin can't to see very much, she doesn't attempt to contradict Lydia or to go herself another pair of specs.

Adrian Montfort, Earl of Mowbray, has been living a reclusive existence for the past ten years, following his return from the Peninsula horribly scarred. Formerly regarded as ane of the handsomest men of the ton, Adrian returned to society after the war only to discover that the scar marring his features had fabricated him and then unattractive every bit to make immature women swoon in horror. Fortunately, all the same, he'due south the hero, so it's a skilful bet that the scar isn't really all that bad and that he's just as gorgeous with it every bit he was without it.

On a rare visit to the capital, Adrian attends a brawl with his cousin, Reggie, who warns him off Clarissa when he expresses an interest. Reggie tells him how clumsy Clarissa is, and how vain for non wanting to habiliment her glasses, merely Adrian isn't convinced, seeing a wistfulness in the young woman that others appear to have missed. He also thinks that her "blindness" volition piece of work in his favour, because it means she will not be able to see his face clearly enough to exist horrified by his scar.

And then Adrian approaches Clarissa, talks to her and dances with her. They enjoy each other's company and there's an immediate rapport betwixt them, although I idea that Clarissa was rather likewise aboveboard for a young lady of that fourth dimension. That said, her unaffectedness is one of the things about her that Adrian finds most endearing.

In any case, they are both very much attracted to each other and are eager to meet again, which, with a little help from Adrian'due south female parent and sister, they manage to practise.

Strangely, despite Lydia'southward continual moaning at Clarissa about how she will never attract a human while wearing her spectacles, she is non at all pleased to find of the budding attachment between her step-daughter and a wealthy earl, and does her damndest to prevent their seeing each other once more.

During the course of their few meetings, Adrian has get aware that Clarissa has been field of study to rather a large number of accidents while she has been deprived of her spectacles. She'southward fallen downwardly the stairs and been pushed into the path of an on-coming railroad vehicle, to proper name but 2 incidents, and when he discovers that someone has quite possibly tried to practice her physical damage in her own back garden, becomes convinced that someone is targeting her – although he tin can't, for the life of him, figure out why.

Another "mishap" results in the pair being caught in a compromising situation – although Adrian finds himself all besides pleased to offer wedlock to the lady, and they are altar-jump presently afterwards.

One time married, the fact that they can't keep their easily off one another doesn't serve to convince either of them that the other will love them regardless of whether they're sporting an ugly scar or pair of spectacles. An over-obvious and unguarded remark fabricated by Adrian's female parent serves to make Clarissa think he will exist crippled with disgust when he sees her with her glasses on, and he struggles with guilt at the fact that he is prepared to let her get for a lilliputian longer without being able to meet clearly if it means she tin't encounter his face up properly.

Love is Blind isn't complicated or overly-angsty and it rattles along at a expert footstep. The mystery side of the plot is well done and I didn't guess the identity of the villain of the slice until quite late on. But as I've said earlier, I'chiliad non a great reader of mysteries, so I oft miss the subtler clues! Clarissa and Adrian were cute both individually and together, and they were actually what made the book so enjoyable, in spite of the anachronisms and the silliness of the main plot. The chemistry between them was terrific, there was plenty of humour and the whole thing was a piece of good-natured fluff, which isn't equally easy to pull off as one might recall.

So I took that as a sign and picked upward Love is Blind.

As usual when reading a Sands book, I was drawn into this story immediately. I'1000 ever amazed at how the really great authors make you feel for their characters, wrap your emotions upwardly in one ooey-gooey mess and keep you turning the pages to find out what happens to these people y'all begin to love with the very first sentence of their book. Especially more than and then when I read a volume that fails to do any of that.

It'due south always more special when it'southward both hero and heroine you lot feel for, not just i or the other or i more than the other. Clarissa is known as a impuissant clod, bumping into things, falling over annihilation in her path, even setting burn down to a few items, including her current beau's hair. Society has decided it'southward because she'southward too vain to wear her spectacles. In truth, her stepmother has promised Clarissa's male parent she volition observe a adept match for the daughter, and since gentlemen don't similar women who wearable eyeglasses, Clarissa must exercise without hers. The old saying blind as a bat takes on new meaning with Clarissa. She too has a scandal in her past that was non her fault at all, only, of course, lodge needs gossip and they practice a pretty good job on Clarissa, the lingering effects still cropping up at present and again.

Adrian has returned to London later fleeing ten years ago when women fainted at the sight of his newly scarred face, compliments of the war. State living has agreed just fine with him, but information technology is time he finds a wife. Even afterwards being warned off past his cousin about Clarissa'southward clumsy accidents, which are quite hilarious when told past a gentleman who'south on the receiving end, Adrian is notwithstanding intrigued and asks Clarissa to dance. From their kickoff meeting when they only talk and dance, you're enchanted with the style they seem to know each other, how to express joy at themselves, and how to have fun together, particularly despite the evil stepmother's after machinations in trying to keep them apart.

They come with hole-and-corner plans backside Lydia's back to meet, just to exist near one another. Clarissa enjoys Adrian'southward kisses and wants more than. Adrian is completely smitten before long, which is a practiced thing when they are somewhen caught in a compromising position later on narrowly escaping more danger at the hands of Clarissa's unknown stalker. Thinking she would never ally such a man as Adrian, Clarissa is genuinely looking forwards to their wedding ceremony, until Lydia one time again interferes when she nastily demonstrates how the wedding night will be unpleasant and painful for Clarissa. Even I will never look at a cherry pie the same mode again. At this point, Clarissa begins to take doubts about the consummation of the marriage, and, of course, Adrian notices. Terrific scenes of the hymeneals, especially one time her fear is vanquished.

The mystery is finally solved, both by Clarissa and Adrian at split up times and when Adrian is abroad, so that Clarissa must confront her pursuer on her ain. I think the circular-about style Ms. Sands took to deceive the reader - and the characters - until the end works quite well. Even if I had guessed who it is, I wouldn't have guessed the why of information technology all.

I actually enjoyed Adrian and Clarissa so much. Their relationship from friends to lovers grows quickly and they have a wonderful fourth dimension getting to know one some other, which means you do too. Clarissa's innocence is charming and when she blurts unerring sensual innuendos, Adrian does his best to be a gentleman until the wedding night. They talk to each other from the beginning, which is always a breath of fresh air in romance, ending with their individual fears about finally seeing each other as they truly are. Information technology's all then very nicely and simply washed, no crazy contrivances needed. Just ii normal people falling in honey amid danger and family meddling, but they overcome all and happily ever after has never been so sweet.

Recommends information technology for: Anyone who loves clean, beautiful, heartwarming romance novels (specifically historical)
I loved this volume very much! It was dissimilar from every other romance novels I have read in that it portrayed romantic love between ii people as a simple, joyous, and beautiful affair that goes across wealth and face value.

I loved this volume very much! It was different from every other romance novels I have read in that it portrayed romantic love between ii people as a simple, joyous, and beautiful thing that goes beyond wealth and face value.

Most other historical romance novels I take read, (east.g. books by Nora Roberts, Johanna Lindsey, Elizabeth Hoyt, Kinley MacGregor, Eloisa James, etc.) portray romantic love equally a complicated thing. For instance, the hero and/or heroine almost always accept a hard fourth dimension ADMITTING their feeling to both themselves and one another. As a upshot, one or both of them would be miserable. Also, in many other historic (and contemporary) romance novels, the male sort of views himself superior to the heroine, uses his temper and forcefulness against her, cares more nearly their ain needs and wishes that hers, treats her roughly, and wants everything to get their way. I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE THOSE CHARACTERS although some of the heroes might mellow a bit with their treatment after they become married

This novel was truly a unique and beautiful slice of writing. It was mostly about the love story between Clarissa and Adrian.

Clarissa is one of the nearly beautiful graphic symbol I have ever come beyond. She has a big center, the biggest, nigh selfless, forgiving, compassionate, generous, and kindest heart always. Even after her stepmother mistreated her and her maid tried to murder her, she shows them the error of their means and gives them 2nd take a chance. I loved her so much for that. She treats all of her employees with proficient manners. She is likewise super honest. Also, she is super nearsighted. Without her glasses, she cannot come across much more than than blobs of color.

Adrian is a pretty keen guy equally well. He and Clarissa encounter at a ball. Her dazzler and stories of her clumsiness intrigues him. He was super sweet to her. She mentioned how her nearsightedness prevents her from reading a volume. That is what she misses above all. And then, on their next meeting, he brings a book to read to her. Also, she once mentioned that due to her clumsiness, her stepmother forbade her to eat or drink at a social gathering, no matter how hungry or parched she is. Then, on one of their meetings, he whisks her from a party to share a picnic with him. He was super sweet and considerate towards her.

During the grade of their human relationship, they were both worried most the other finding them unattractive due to their imperfection
i) Clarissa was terribly near-sighted but she did non wear glasses because her stepmother forced her non to by breaking her glasses. Of course, earlier the wedding, she orders a new one simply she is agape that if Adrian sees her with glasses, he would detect her unattractive.
2) Adrian has a deep scar on his face from serving in the military. He is afraid that if she wears glasses, she would see his face clearly and be disgusted by him.

It was both sad and sweet how they both wanted her to article of clothing glasses later on in their relationship. She wanted to habiliment spectacles later considering she idea that in time, if he loved her and cared for her enough, he would not discover her unattractive while she wears those spectacles. He wanted her to wear glasses later, because he wished that in fourth dimension, if she loved and cared for him plenty, seeing his scarred face up would not bother her. The author showed their devotion and hope towards each other and so beautifully!!

I would definitely read this book again

He might take a scar on his face, but he is the ultimate admirer. He is polite , thoughtful , sweet , careful , I mean even if he is flawed ... he is still perfect.

""You are really happy with him," Lydia finally said, wonderingly. And and so, sounding bewildered, she asked, "How tin can you exist happy with him?""

"Because he is good and kind," she explained softly, then went on. "Because he treats me like a princess. Considering he makes me express mirth. Because he makes me happy. Considering he took the trouble to read to me when I could not read to myself. Because he fed me and gave me wine when I could not eat or drink at balls. Because when he kisses me my toes curl, and when he makes dear to me I cannot contain my passion."

happiness is a choice. If you lot choose to mope and be glum, you shall be; only if yous wish to exist happy and determine to enjoy what life has to offer, and so y'all can accept that too.

"She said that naught is all good or all bad, that life offers everyone a mix of both—though sometimes it does not seem so, and bad is all we can see in our lives, while in the lives of others nosotros meet only good and feel envy. She said we must enjoy the good despite the bad, else life tin can beat u.s. down and leave united states hopeless, and that is no fashion to alive."

I think this story had a beautiful message ...

I enjoyed the starting time half of the volume but after that it became more and more OTT. This is more what I would phone call an humoristic historical romance than a conventional one because there'southward many breach to the societal rules. I also doesn't agree with the hero's deception about the wedding ceremony night or that he didn't encourage the heroine to habiliment glasses one time they were married, no affair his reasons, he knew information technology's dangerous for her so how tin can he do it. I don't believe in the stepmother meaculpa either and tin't believe how easily Clarissa forgive everyone. The ending was too farfetched for me .

Clarissa and Adrian'southward love story is very sugariness and tender. It is spiced up with a threat/mystery that takes more prominence towards the end and overpowers the romance aspect in my opinion. At that place'due south the element of missunderstanding, merely never to the betoken of angst.
Not much character growth or feeling developement, still quite cute.

Then, Clarissa was 'Blind as a bat' and was constantly causing accidents. It was funny to read about these accidents, almost the business firm staffs with lots of attitude and this Constant confusion due to lack of glasses.
Now, this book was perfect till the 80% mark but the melodrama and plot movement after information technology made the volume so ho-hum to read. I besides got bored of this constant drama around ' Lack of spectacles', similar there need to take some other malaise or plotline. If non so the book would have done swell with less than xx-30 pages. This book would have been a v star for me but however, I liked the narration past Justin Eyre.

"Intelligent people have no need to pretend to knowledge they do not have. Just the stupid feel they must feign noesis about everything and anything. They fear appearing equally stupid equally they are."

Clarissa is a nice girl who is unfortunately very nearsighted without her spectacles. I can relate, I got remarkably close to a rabbit in my lawn thinking it was my dog when my glasses were off. Clarissa's stepmother doesn't call up she will make a good match with them, but Clarissa is rather accident decumbent without them and has earned a reputation for disasters.

Adrian is scarred on his face from the war (I'm totally picturing Poldark here) and is only getting back to polite order. He is taken with Clarissa, she's cute, kind, and can't run into his scars.

They have a cute romance.

Information technology's a cute story.

Four stars - recommendation if you desire a lighthearted romance.
